Spring season
The spring hunting season is very short. It runs from May 1 to May 10. At this time the migrating birds are returning. May is a good time to hunt for capercaillies, grouses, cockducks, and Eurasian woodcocks.
The preferred time to hunt for the Eurasian woodcock is in the evening when they land for the night. This is a traditional Russian hunt.
